Major General Khalid Mahmood , Hilal-i-Imtiaz (Military) was commissioned in Azad Kashmir Regiment (Infantry) in March 1981. After Regimental duties, he was seconded to Saudi Arabia as part of an Army Contingent, where he served for three years (March 1985 – March 1988). On repatriation, served as instructor at School of Infantry and Tactics, Quetta. Later he served as Brigade Major of an Infantry Brigade and commanded 35 Azad Kashmir Regiment in Border Area and Rahim Yar Khan. After serving as Grade-I Staff Officer at Infantry Division was deputed as Defence Attaché to Indonesia, where he had additional accreditation to Australia and Singapore (July 2001 – December 2004).
On repatriation, served as Colonel Staff of an Infantry Division and commanded an Infantry Brigade at Peshawar and FATA.
Attended War Course at National Defence University and served in Military Intelligence Directorate General Headquarters, till he was promoted as Major General. He commanded Infantry Division at Sialkot. His last assignment was Director General Infantry at General Headquarters, till he retired in July 2013.
He is a graduate of Command and Staff College Quetta, Command and Staff College Indonesia and National Defence University Islamabad.
He served as Consultant Operational facilitation in Mari Petroleum Company Limited (MPCL) from May 2017 to December 2018. He joined FWEL as the Managing Director/ Chief Executive Officer in January 2019.
