Foundation Wind Energy – II Limited
Foundation Wind Energy – II Limited (FWEL-II) is a 50 MW wind power generation project located at Khutti Kun, Taluka Mirpur Sakro, District Thatta, Sindh, Pakistan. The head office of the Company is located at Rawalpindi, Pakistan. The Project lies within the wind corridor identified by AEDB for commercial wind projects. The Government of Sindh, through AEDB has allocated land for the Project.
It is a 80% owned subsidiary of Fauji Fertilizer Company Ltd. which is one of the biggest names in Pakistan’s corporate sector for last 4 decades, and is the largest fertilizer producer in Pakistan with 60% of the fertilizer market share in the country. The remaining 20% shareholding is held by Tapal Group.
The company has played a leading role in developing Pakistan’s nascent wind power sector. With total installed capacity of 50 MW and consisting of 20 number of Nordex N-100 (Gama Version) 2.5 MW wind turbines. The Project achieved financial close in April 2013 and commercial operations commenced in December 2014. The O&M Contractor of the Project is Nordex Pakistan (Private) Limited. FWEL-II has exported 1320 GWh to the National Grid, abating 530,180 tons of CO₂.
